Pausing a Moment on This Veterans Day

Veterans-Day

Being married to a 22-year veteran who served in the first and second Gulf Wars, I am somewhat connected to the demands and stress that our veterans endure. However, I cannot even for a second begin to understand the emotional toll of the sacrifices made each day by the brave men and women who serve our country. I emerged from my mother’s womb with “Conscientious Objector” written all over my face. But, my own personal choices do not absolve me of a responsibility to respect and honor those who bravely step forward and keep my scrawny ass safe day in and day out.

Thank you Veterans for your dedication and service. I truly appreciate it. And a huge “screw you” to any legislators who would even consider eliminating benefits and support services to the men and women who keep us and our way of life secure.
